Our charity
Streets Ahead Rwanda’s remit is support for marginalised and vulnerable youth in Rwanda, particularly those who are or have been on the street.
The charity was established in 2009 by supporters of the work of SACCA in Rwanda. The lead founder was Mark Ogle, who was one of the three original founders of SACCA in Rwanda. Mark managed SACCA from inception in 2003, when he and his wife Naomi took children from the streets into their own home and advocated for them with local authorities, through to 2006 when centres for boys and girls had been established.
Many of the charity’s supporters and several Board members are familiar with Rwanda and have been inspired by SACCA’s work. One of our first trustees, Cassie Williams, had managed the Boys’ Centre in Kayonza as a volunteer in 2005. The continuing enthusiasm and involvement of those who have volunteered for and visited SACCA is testament to SACCA’s caring environment and the dedication of its staff, and above all to the infectious enthusiasm and spirit of the children SACCA supports.
