Update on Emergency Appeal
The negative impact of measures to counter the spread of Covid-19 continues to affect poor families and those relying on income from casual labour in Rwanda. We have now sent £4,000 to SACCA to support 70 families (over 360 family members) with packages of food and other basics during these difficult times.
Many thanks to all those supporters who have contributed to our Emergency Appeal. A special thanks to Karen Landi who through sewing facemasks and asking for donations in return has raised a colossal £3,089.
The need for this basic support continues due to the impact on jobs and the economy. Government resources are principally directed to support of hospitals and quarantine centres, and populations outside the capital are very much reliant on support from NGOs like SACCA. SACCA’s support has been extended to provision of hand-washing facilities for families where members are particularly vulnerable to the virus and to key points in the District.
